THE ARTISTS AND THE PROJECT
Students from different diciplines – composition, instrumental study, dance and acting – and from different countries started to meet in January to work together on a project for “Glänzende Aktionstage” by DIE VIELEN – for a free, democratic and open society. Originally designed for a live-presentation in physical presence, their works were influenced and adapted to the new situation of Corona. Please find here the art works by Eli Simic-Prosic, Jorge Horacio Villaseca, Franziska Salker, Johanna Ryynänen, Grace Juliet Macdonald, Tonio Schneider, Helena Boysen - sound works, video works and a trailer for a planned live-stream.
DIE VIELEN is an association that promotes an international mind set, tolerance in all areas concerning culture and public education. DIE VIELEN show solidarity for all who work in the arts or culture and are under attack or whose legitimacy is being questioned by right-wing populists and far-right positions.

“Of course, how to talk about freedom, knowing that even though here they let me out, that I can go out at any time for a walk, I still have the doors closed from there. I'm still locked up and looked out”.
“You can always do what you want and here you still have to wait a long time. You have to make applications, you have to be there constantly demanding support but I think in our case, we always go through so many things too. After colonialism, capitalism, globalization, the lefts, the rights, we still try to do everything possible to keep up the good mood”.

Contained in space. Borders are being formed while non-imaginary threads keep on multiplying and lessening the space with structure. How to find space within; when getting weaved in a systematic repression?

Finally, we can build new borders. I draw a 1.5 meter line around myself. Nobody else is allowed in there. Nobody. That border is mine.
I can see everything from here.
I am virtually free.
But careful: Life crosses borders. Not to die we have to stop living.
Secureness.

GRENZEN.
Ganz wunderbar.
Meine ganz eigenen Mauern. Mein Schutzwall vor dem Bösen. Mein Haus.
Unten. Rechts. Links. 17 Zoll.
So fühle ich mich sicher!“

Grace Macdonald und Eli Simic-Prosic “A few remarks on the nature of contagion (Teaser)”
The threat of contagion lies not only in the devastating realm of the physical, but in those of the social and the psychological as well… the vociferous spread of (mis)information during crisis pummels us into our ourselves… reason and calm strain at the breaking point, anxieties and fears rupture into prejudice and discrimination… this new digital reality envelops... two performers searching for clarity and respite in words and sound.
