klangzeitort: 777 – Contemporary Dance: Interdisciplinary Perspectives
The aim of this seminar is to provide students with tools and vocabulary for the understanding of contemporary dance, with a focus on the relationships between choreography and music. We will examine creative collaborations between choreographers, artists and composers, ranging from 20th century postmodernism to current transdisciplinary approaches, while elaborating the historical and cultural background of key works. Aiming to provide a critical overview of the contemporary dance scene in Berlin, the seminar will expose students to the major artistic debates of recent years surrounding the intersection of the body and identity politics, post-humanism, public space and queer theory. The seminar will combine performance analysis, theoretical discussions and creative practice.
